Lupus Patient: Moriah

I write you today with a grateful heart. How do you thank someone that has given your daughter life?

In 2009 my daughter Moriah an MVP basketball player started experiencing pain and swelling in her foot and ankle. Moriah was placed in boot cast for extended periods of time by an Orthopedic doctor. He wanted to operate on Moriah's foot; I said no.

Then other symptoms started to appear. I was very concerned. By March 2012, because of repeated sore throats, mouth sores and various complaints of pain and swelling with no diagnosis, we took Moriah to a highly recommended Pediatric specialist. After blood test, x-rays, and an MRI he found the diagnosis. Moriah was suffering from a combination of Lupus, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. He then referred us to a Rheumatologist.

Prior to Moriah' stem cell treatment in May, all the Rheumatologists attempts at treatment had failed. She endured months of injections of the old chemo drug Methotrexate, high doses of steroids and anti-inflammatory medications, Moriah was not only not improving. In fact, Moriah could barely get out of bed.The Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Fibromyalgia were wreaking havoc on her body.

Her Symptoms were multiple they included: butterfly rashes on her face, swollen ankles, chest pains, Anemia, pains in her back and neck, Acid reflux, Pleurisy, chronic allergic Rhinitis, sinus headaches, hair loss, sleep disturbances, dizziness and blood in her urine.

The Rheumatologist finally gave up and threw his hands up in the air, because he felt that was nothing more he could do to bring Moriah into remission. We honestly were afraid we were going to lose her. I am a nurse, so I had already started researching alternative treatments.

After the Stem Cell Treatment on May 18, 2013, Moriah had a burst of energy. She exercised for the first time in over 18 months in the workout room of the motel that we were staying in. She walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill. The next day she swam and then wanted to go back to the workout room. I walked to the workout room to check on her and she was running on the treadmill. I was amazed, she ran 2 miles. I kept telling her to slow down. Then, she climbed on the cross trainer and done another 2 miles.

After returning home, Moriah has been off all her medications. She continues to get stronger every day. She is in remission!

After the stem cell treatment in May, were returned to the Rheumatologist for a scheduled check-up in June. When the Rheumatologist came in the room he was livid because Moriah was off all her medication. We encouraged him to examine Moriah.

Then, upon examining her, he didn't know what to say. He couldn't believe what had happened. Moriah no longer had any symptoms. The butterfly mask was gone. She had no pain anywhere in her body including no headaches. There was no longer any blood in her urine. She was symptom free!
